Species infomation

Distinctive features:

  1. Iris with black flecks and often white streaks.
  2. Long papillae between eyes.
  3. Dark pupil-sized blotch behind the eye.

Physical description:

One pair of nasal and orbital cirri. Orbital cirri heavily branched. Nasal cirrus with 2-3 branches. Long papillae stemming from spines between the eyes.

Colouration:

A light to dark brown with green on top of the head. A white cheek stripe originated from behind the eye to the edge of the operculum, a dark pupil-sized blotch is behind the eye on this stripe. Lower jaw with brown barring. Iris with brown flecks and sometimes white streaks. Indistinct markings along the body of a dark row of blotches along the midflank, top and bottom of the body. Dorsal fin with a black blotch spanning the first few spines.

Size:

Reaches 4.0 cm.

Habitat:

Found in holes in areas with rocks and sandy bottoms where there is little coral.
