Distinctive features:

Physical description:

Very elongate body. No cirri.

Colouration:

Light brown with ~10 dark brown to purple bars along body. Double bar on cheek with 2 blotches vertically stacked behind. White belly and throat. Black branchiostegal membrane.
Males: head and front of dorsal fin brown to black. Dorsal fin with reddish-orange stripes separated by blue.
Females: black ocellus at front of dorsal fin.

Size:

Reaches 8.0 cm.

Habitat:

Found in worm tubes on sandy bottoms with rubble.

Notes:

Endemic to the Gálapagos islands.
