Species infomation

Distinctive features:

  1. Very bushy long cirri.
  2. Reddish to yellow body.
  3. Iris red-orange with blue bands.

Physical description:

3 heavily branched cirri total on front of face - 2 over eyes and one in the centre. Seem to 'merge' together.
Males: cirri 2x diameter of eye.
Females: shorter cirri. Nasal cirri with multiple branches. 2 rows of cirri on nape.

Colouration:

Translucent, colour variable from red to pink to yellow. 2 thin brown bars from bottom of eye which border a white blotch. Cirri white to yellowish. ~9 reddish blotches on upper body. Red line along vertebrae. Two large white blotches behind head. Iris is a red-orange blue stripes. Very front of dorsal fin light brown.

Size:

Reaches 4.0 cm.

Habitat:

Found in holes in rocky reefs.
