Species infomation

Distinctive features:

  1. Stripes along lips and lower head.
  2. Dorsal and anal fin with dark diagonal stripes.
  3. Continuous mesh of dark rings along body.

Physical description:

Simple eye and nasal cirri. Spiny and soft dorsal fin similar height.

Colouration:

8 broken dark blotches along upper body reaching down to midflank. Posterior blotches seem to separate to form a row along the upper body and another along the midlfank. Stripes along lips and lower head. Dark blotch on rear cheek. Body honeycombed with dark rings between blotches. Head with dark spots. Front of dorsal fin pale but solid with faint dark diagonal stripes. Anal fin with broad diagonal dark stripes.

Size:

Reaches 5.0 cm.

Habitat:

Unknown. Region where found has finer sedimentary bottoms with rubble of broken shells but also rocky outcrops and boulders.
