Species infomation

Distinctive features:

  1. Males with black orbital cirri.
  2. Males with diagonal blue stripes along cheek.
  3. Males with row of white spots along midflank.

Physical description:

Simple nasal and orbital cirri.
Females: orbital cirri short.
Males: orbital cirri longer than eye diameter. Front of dorsal fin elevated.

Colouration:

Males: dark grey-green head and front of body. Majority of body translucent. Belly light blue. Black vertebral column with white doshes. Row of white spots along midlfank. White/blue spots on head, these on lower cheek form curved lines which reach throat. Iris white with black diagonal stripe through pupil. Orbital cirri black. Front of dorsal fin dark grey-green with a black blotch bordered by a pale blue on top.

Size:

Reaches 6.5 cm.

Habitat:

Found in empty holes on sandy bottoms with rubble.
