Species infomation

Distinctive features:

  1. Pointed snout like an arrowhead.
  2. White stripe along upper head.
  3. Posterior body with a row of black blotches along upper and lower.
  4. Iris with a white stripe above pupil.

Physical description:

Long and pointed snout. No cirri.

Colouration:

Purple-red body which fades to yellow at the caudal base. Belly and lower head whitish. Yellow vertebral column. White blotches along midflank of front body. White stripe on upper head from start of snout to end of head. 2 rows of black blotches along upper and lower posterior body. The one along the upper with 3 blotches, lower with 2 blotches. Iris dark with a yellow inner ring and a white stripe above the pupil.

Size:

Reaches 5.7 cm.

Habitat:

Found in dropoffs with reefs. Can be found resting inside tube sponges.
