Distinctive features:

  1. Red iris with blue/white inner ring.
  2. Pale snout and lips.

Physical description:

One pair of nasal and orbital cirri. Eye and nasal cirri simple, either unbranched or shallowly branched.

Colouration:

Blackish head with a pale snout and lips and a white stripe on cheek under eye. Green-brown body with 3 rows of brown blotches along the top, bottom and midflank separated by white stripes. Small blue dots on head and along the bottom of the dorsal fin. Black spot on dorsal fin betweem spine I and II.

Size:

Reaches 4.5 cm.

Habitat:

Found in abandonded worm tubes in muddy rock and live coral.
