Species infomation

Distinctive features:

  1. Heavily branched cirri.
  2. Orange-pink iris.
  3. Males with white at start of dorsal fin.
  4. Males with ocellus on dorsal fin.

Physical description:

One pair of nasal and orbital cirri. Orbital cirri strongly branched and nasal cirrus with 2-3 branches.

Colouration:

Orange to pinisk iris.
Males: dark to translucent with rear of head and front body covered in black spots. Heavy white spotting. Front half of dorsal dark with white at the front and an ocellus between spines III-IV.
Females: bright yellow to yellow-green with black blotches behind eye and on operculum and pectoral fin base. Dark blotches along the dorsal and anal fin base.

Size:

Reaches 4.0 cm.

Habitat:

Found in holes in coral.
