Very elongate body. No cirri. Males with tall spiny dorsal fin. Notch separating head and flat nape.
Light brown, darker on top and with a white belly and throat. ~9 dark bars along body. Blue branchiostegal membranes. Black bars leading from eye to mouth. Iris orange or a pinisk-purple with blacl stripes and white blotches.
Females: head with light speckling of white and dark brown. Black spot on dorsal fin, behind spine IV.
Males: can be a very dark brown. Top with a light brown to white mottling pattern made up of heavy speckling. No blotch on dorsal fin.
Breeding males: dorsal fin blueish with green wavy stripes separated by orange.
Reaches 7.5 cm.
Found in worm tubes on sandy bottoms with rubble.
C. deltarrhis has a notch separating the head and neck. C. celeste has an orange iris with brown bands, while the iris of C. deltarrhis has a white blotch on the bottom. Female C. celeste have a white-bordered ocellus on the dorsal fin, while C. deltarrhis females only have a black blotch. Male C. deltarrhis have brown marbling on the upper body and head.
