Distinctive features:

  1. Palm-like cirri.
  2. Indiscrete blotch on cheek bordered by a blue-black which is bordered by white.
  3. Iris with pale bands.

Physical description:

Simple nasal cirri. Palm-like orbital cirri which is long with short branches on the side and long branches at the top.

Colouration:

Iris with pale bands. Colour highly variable, from light tan to dark brown. Bands on lips which vary in colour from dark brown to white. Indiscretely coloured blotch on cheek which is surrounded by a blue-black. This is then anteriorly bordered by white. White spots on head and front of body. Row of horizontally elongate black blotches along midflank. This row of blotches is bordered both above and below by white lines. Broken pale lines on upper and lower bodies. Dorsal fin with pale lines, and a row of black blotches on base.

Size:

Reaches 7.1 cm.

Habitat:

Found in worm tubes on rocks.
