Simple nasal cirri. No orbital cirri.
Females and immature males: pinkish head and transparent body. Thick red/brown stripe along midlfank from back of eye to caudal base with an upper yellow stripes and white dashes. Iris white with a black diagonal line through the pupil. Red belly with yellow blotches. Front of dorsal fin white with faint orange banner and white margin.
Breeding males: black head, iris and front of body. Spiny dorsal black with red banner bordered by white below.
Reaches 3.8 cm.
Found on rocky and coral reefs. Breeding males found in holes.
E. randalli has no orbital cirri. Females of E. randalli have a stripe from behind the eye to the caudal base and have a white iris with a diagonal line. Breeding males of E. falcon have a wavy banner, while E. randalli has a straight one.
