Simple nasal cirri. Orbital cirri either unbranched or with 2-3 small branches.
Females: pinkish head and belly with brown undertones. Body largely transparent, vertebral column clear with white dashes. Black spots under eye and on cheek. Front dorsal fin black.
Males: colour variable, ranges from black to light orange. Always with orangish hues. Dorsal fin black with a small orange banner along top of first 3 spines. Banner has no white borders.
Reaches 2.5 cm.
Found in empty worm tubes on sandy bottoms located by lagoonal patchy reefs.
E. dianae has the initial dorsal fin black, while E. leptocirris initial dorsal fin is white. Breeding males of E. dianae have a short orange banner and E. leptocirris has none.
E. pricei has no orbital cirri. E. dianae has the initial dorsal fin black, while E. pricei has a clear dorsal fin. Breeding males of E. dianae have a short orange banner and E. pricei has none.
