Simple nasal and orital cirri.
Males: first dorsal spines elevated, following spines ~2/3 height.
Females: First 2 dorsal spines elevated, ~2x height of following.
Females: largely transparent with dark green vertebral column with white dashes. Top of head green-gold with blue cranial pattern. Lower cheek gold. White belly and diagonal stripe under cheek. Iris cyan. First few spines with white membrane. First dorsal spine daek grey with white tip.
Breeding males: black head, iris, front of body and front dorsal fin.
Reaches 2.2 cm.
Found on corals. Breeding males found in holes.
E. bahamensis has no orbital cirri. E. ruetzleri has no pink and is instead largely brown with some blue spots while E. bahamensis is largely a pinkish hue. Breeding males of E. bahamensis have short and flat dorsal fins.
E. ruetzleri has no pink and is instead largely brown with some blue spots while E. carib is largely a pinkish hue. Breeding males of E. carib have a spike in the inital dorsal fin while E. ruetzleri is only slightly elevated.

E. ruetzleri has no pink and is instead largely brown with some blue spots while E. leptocirris is largely a pinkish hue. Breeding males of E. ruetzleri have the first dorsal spine slightly elevated, while E. leptocirris is flat.
