Simple nasal cirri. No orbital cirri.
Females: largely transparent, orange/pink vertebral column with white dashes.
Immature males: dark reddish-purple with a dark vertebral column and orange and white dashes. Cranial pattern may be visible.
Breeding males: black head, front of body and front dorsal fin. Sometimes with white spots on rear head.
Reaches 3.2 cm.
Found on hard corals and seafans found in lagoonal and outer reefs. Breeding males found in holes.
E. pricei has no orbital cirri. E. dianae has the initial dorsal fin black, while E. pricei has a clear dorsal fin. Breeding males of E. dianae have a short orange banner and E. pricei has none.
E. pricei has no orbital cirri. E. pricei has a Y shaped cranial pattern with curved lines on either side and loose dots, E. leptocirris has an X with outwardly curved lines and no spots.
